4D Lotto Permutation Calculator: Every Combination and Cost in One Click
You love the number 1234. But what if the draw shows 4321? Or 2143? A permutation bet covers those arrangements, but the cost and the payout change depending on which bet you choose. Our 4D permutation calculator shows every combination and the total ticket cost before you hand over a single ringgit.
This guide explains how permutations work, how Box, iBox, mBox and Roll bets differ across Magnum, Sports Toto, Da Ma Cai and GD Lotto, and which bet suits your budget. When you’re done, check your numbers on the live 4D result page at 4D LOTTO.
Key takeaways
- A 4-digit number has 24, 12, 6, 4 or 1 permutations, depending on repeated digits.
- Box = a full bet on every permutation. Cost multiplies by the permutation count.
- iBox / mBox = all permutations in one entry. Lower cost, smaller prize per hit.
- Roll = fix three digits, roll one position from 0 to 9. Always 10 numbers.
- No bet type changes the odds of any single number. It only changes your coverage and your cost.

How to Use the 4D Permutation Calculator
- Enter your number. Type any four digits from 0000 to 9999.
- Choose your bet type. Straight, Box, iBox / mBox or Roll.
- Set the roll position (Roll only). Pick which digit to roll: first, second, third or fourth.
- Enter your stake. Type the amount you want to bet per number.
- Pick Big or Small. Big covers all five prize tiers. Small covers the top three.
- Read the result. The tool lists every combination, the permutation count and your total ticket cost.
Use it as a free Damacai 1+3D box bet generator, a Magnum mBox permutation calculator or a quick check for any other operator. The maths works the same everywhere.
How 4D Permutations Work
A permutation is simply a different order of the same digits. The number of orders depends on how many digits repeat.
| Number Pattern | Example | Permutations | Formula |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 different digits | 1234 | 24 | 4! = 24 |
| 1 pair | 1123 | 12 | 4! / 2! = 12 |
| 2 pairs | 1122 | 6 | 4! / (2! x 2!) = 6 |
| 3 identical digits | 1112 | 4 | 4! / 3! = 4 |
| 4 identical digits | 1111 | 1 | 4! / 4! = 1 |
The “!” means factorial: 4! = 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 24. Repeated digits create duplicate orders, so you divide them out.
Quick tip: A number like 1111 has only one arrangement. A Box or iBox bet on it gives you nothing extra over a straight bet.
Box vs iBox vs mBox: What Is the Difference?
All three cover every arrangement of your digits. The difference is how you pay and how you get paid.
| Feature | Box | iBox (Toto, Da Ma Cai) / mBox (Magnum) |
|---|---|---|
| What it covers | Every permutation | Every permutation |
| How it is bought | One full bet per permutation | One single entry for all permutations |
| Total cost | Stake x permutation count | Your stake only |
| Prize per hit | Full straight prize | Reduced prize, shared across permutations |
| Best for | Bigger budgets that want full prize value | Smaller budgets that want wide coverage |
Box bet
A Box bet buys every permutation as its own straight bet. For 1234, that is 24 separate entries on one ticket. If any arrangement hits, you collect the full prize for that number. The catch is cost: 24 permutations means 24 times your stake.
iBox and mBox
iBox (used by Sports Toto and Da Ma Cai) and mBox (Magnum’s name for the same idea) cover all permutations in a single entry. You pay one stake, but the prize for a hit is reduced. In general, the prize is roughly the straight prize divided by the permutation count. Always check the operator’s own prize table for the exact figures.
You may also see the term i-Perm. Players and outlets use it loosely for iBox-style bets. If you use an i-perm 4D calculator, it works the same way as the iBox setting on our tool.
Roll Bets: How Roll Bet 4D Permutation Works
A Roll bet works differently. Instead of rearranging your digits, you fix three digits and let one position roll through every digit from 0 to 9. On the bet slip, the rolled position is marked with R.
| Roll Notation | Rolled Position | Numbers Covered |
|---|---|---|
| R123 | First digit | 0123, 1123, 2123 … 9123 |
| 1R23 | Second digit | 1023, 1123, 1223 … 1923 |
| 12R3 | Third digit | 1203, 1213, 1223 … 1293 |
| 123R | Fourth digit | 1230, 1231, 1232 … 1239 |
A Roll bet always covers 10 numbers, so the total cost is 10 times your stake. It suits players who feel sure about three digits but can’t decide on the fourth.
Operator Names Compared: Magnum, Toto, Da Ma Cai and GD Lotto
Each operator uses its own labels. Here is how they line up:
| Bet Idea | Magnum 4D | Sports Toto | Da Ma Cai 1+3D | GD Lotto |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Straight | Straight | Straight | Straight | Straight |
| Full permutation bet | Box | Box | Box | Box |
| One-entry permutation bet | mBox | iBox | iBox (e.g. IB24, IB12) | Check operator rules |
| Roll one digit | Roll | Roll | Roll | Check operator rules |
So a sports toto ibox permutation and a Magnum mBox follow the same logic. For a gd lotto 4d permutation, the digit maths is identical, but confirm the bet names and prize table with the operator before you play.
For official rules, see the Magnum 4D game guide, Da Ma Cai how-to-play page and Sports Toto website.
Worked Cost Examples
These examples use a RM1 stake per number to keep the maths simple. They show cost only, not prize amounts.
| Your Number | Bet Type | Numbers Covered | Total Cost at RM1 Stake |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1234 | Straight | 1 | RM1 |
| 1234 | Box | 24 | RM24 |
| 1234 | iBox / mBox | 24 | RM1 |
| 1123 | Box | 12 | RM12 |
| 1122 | Box | 6 | RM6 |
| 1112 | Box | 4 | RM4 |
| R123 | Roll | 10 | RM10 |
Now change the stake. A RM2 Box bet on 1234 costs RM48. A RM5 Roll bet costs RM50. Costs climb fast, which is exactly why a 4D permutation calculator is worth using before you bet.
Which Bet Should You Choose?
| If You… | Consider | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Are sure of the exact order | Straight | Lowest cost, full prize |
| Want full prize on any order and have the budget | Box | Full prize value on every permutation |
| Want any-order coverage on a tight budget | iBox / mBox | One stake covers all permutations |
| Are sure of three digits only | Roll | Covers all 10 options for one position |
| Picked a number with repeated digits | Check the count first | Fewer permutations means Box costs less and iBox spreads less |

The Maths Reality
Permutation bets change your coverage, not your luck. Every 4D draw picks from 10,000 numbers, and each one has the same chance.
- A straight bet covers 1 number: a 1 in 10,000 chance at 1st Prize.
- A 24-permutation Box or iBox covers 24 numbers: 24 in 10,000.
- A Roll bet covers 10 numbers: 10 in 10,000.
More coverage means a better chance of a hit. But with Box and Roll, your cost rises at the same rate. With iBox and mBox, your prize per hit falls instead. There is always a trade-off.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Forgetting repeated digits. 1123 has 12 permutations, not 24. The calculator handles this for you.
- Mixing up Box and iBox. Box multiplies your cost. iBox reduces your prize. Know which one you’re buying.
- Boxing 1111. It has only one arrangement, so a permutation bet adds nothing.
- Ignoring the Big / Small choice. A Small bet only pays on the top three tiers, even on a Box ticket.
- Overspending on Roll bets. Every Roll costs 10 times your stake. Set your budget first.
Responsible Play
You must be at least 18 to play 4D in Malaysia. Use the calculator to plan your spending, not to chase losses. Set a fixed budget before each draw and stick to it.
4D Permutation Calculator FAQ
What does a 4D permutation calculator do?
It lists every arrangement of your four digits and works out the total ticket cost for Straight, Box, iBox / mBox and Roll bets.
How many permutations does a 4D number have?
It depends on repeated digits: 24 for four different digits, 12 for one pair, 6 for two pairs, 4 for three identical digits and 1 for four identical digits.
What is the difference between Box and iBox?
Box buys a full bet on every permutation, so the cost multiplies. iBox covers all permutations in one entry, so the cost stays low but the prize per hit is reduced.
Is Magnum mBox the same as iBox?
Yes, in principle. mBox is Magnum’s name for a one-entry permutation bet. Sports Toto and Da Ma Cai call it iBox.
How does a Roll bet work?
You fix three digits and roll one position through 0 to 9. That covers 10 numbers, so the cost is 10 times your stake.
Does a permutation bet improve my odds?
It covers more numbers, so your chance of a hit rises. But Box and Roll cost more, and iBox pays less per hit. No bet type changes the odds of a single number.
Can I use the calculator for GD Lotto?
Yes. The digit maths is the same for every operator. Just confirm GD Lotto’s bet names and prize table before you play.
